Author Lynn Rainville, former SBC History professor, Director of Institute for Public History, and Dean of the College.  Virginia played an important role during WWI, supplying the Allied forces with food, horses, and steel in 1915 and 1916.  After America entered the war in 1917, Virginians served innumerous military and civilian roles.  More than 100k were drafted, and more than 3600 lost their lives.
